How did you get started in this industry?

I started by working in Brandy Melville when I lived in California, where we would host events for sororities. When I moved to Kauai, I realized I wouldn’t be able to continue work in such a big company. I loved the creativity I had in my previous job, so I was looking for something similar to that. That’s when I got introduced to the wedding industry and wanted to start wedding planning. I really started faking it til I made it, and I was able to dive in and learn a lot about the industry.

How have you seen your company grow over the years?

When I first started, I started by taking on all different types of jobs. As time went on, I started to realize what I loved which was design and planning. I had a few different package offerings when I started out, and I took on things that I didn’t really love. I started really focusing on how I could streamline my work, which helped me in terms of family balance but also helped the clients as well.

Do you have a planning process? How has that evolved since you started planning?

Yes! All of my marketing comes directly from Instagram. Once clients send me their inquiry form, I have an automatic response that schedules a call with them. I like to get to know the client really well, and I feel like it’s important to see if clients are a good fit for you. After that, I will send them out their contract, and we will have a design consultation call. Then I will present their design to them over email, which is through a 3d software. Once they accept that, we will make revisions and send out for contracts to other vendors. I have an assistant as well, which is really nice to pass things off to her.

How do you execute a bride’s vision for their day?

Every bride and groom is different, but most of the time they come to me with Pinterest photos. If you brand yourself and know the vendors that are aligned with that, when someone presents you a design inspiration, then you know who has those items and how you can make that happen. Then there are the occasions where I have a bride who wants a really outside of the box wedding. Most of my couples weddings are pretty traditional, but then I have one that wants their entire ceremony to be clear and amongst nature. It can be difficult when someone comes to you without any design inspiration, and you have to really craft it yourself. However, those are the most fun events to be a part of because they are so creative and different.
